Women’s role in Congo, today: INTERHOLCO presents the testimony of an employee

What is the role of women in society? The answers are many and varied. According to Diane TCHICAYA, assistant to the Director General at INTERHOLCO's production site in the Republic of Congo, ‘If a woman really wants to be of service, she must be able to work. Even if it's not in an office, a woman has to – that’s how she can help.’

In her testimonial, Ms. TCHICAYA shares her professional and relational journey as African woman coming from Pointe-Noire, employee, wife and housewife. Watch the video:

One thing is for sure: to be able to reconcile work and family life, a woman needs a lot of motivation and support. That is why INTERHOLCO offers employees, in addition to maternity leave, flexible working hours, the possibility of working part-time and many other advantages. For example, an anonymous and secure procedure allows employees to bring any problems, including harassment, to the attention of management at any time.

Despite the disruptive effects of COVID-19 on the global economy and the unforeseen investment mobilised by INTERHOLCO as part of its prevention and mitigation strategy in the Republic of Congo, in 2021 and 2020, 100% of IFO employees continued to be paid above the national minimum wage, including women, young workers, workers with lower education and workers with dependent children. No employees lost their job or were laid off as a result of the pandemic.
