The Rainforest Alliance, which ATIBT welcomes as a member, signed a partnership agreement with our association in November 2022.
This agreement provides for interaction between the ATIBT and the Rainforest Alliance in the promotion of certified timber from Central American community forests, the development of opportunities for sustainable community livelihoods in agroforestry landscapes at ATIBT member sites, including the development of non-timber forest products.
The agreement also aims to improve interaction between forest concessions and community forests, in order to make progress on "landscape" approaches, joint support for community forests to obtain FSC certification, and the identification of opportunities for joint advocacy to promote the proper functioning of community forestry.
