ATIBT and LCB will organize a webinar for their concerned members (i.e., any company purchasing timber, on the domestic and international market) on January 25. The objective of this webinar will be to make companies aware of the next data collection on the Themis portal, which will start in February 2022.
As a reminder, the Themis portal is a data collection tool, on which companies will now be invited to enter their data once a year. In 2021, only importers were solicited; from 2022, all members purchasing timber will be able to enter their data on the portal.
Themis collects this information in order to track imports and purchases of certified wood, to improve the sustainable procurement policies of European timber trade federations and to increase the supply of wood from sustainably managed forests.
The portal went live in April 2021 and has already collected data for the reference year 2020. In 2022, the priority is to raise awareness among the companies concerned of the importance and interest of this collection, in order to increase the representativeness of the results obtained and to be able to introduce a monitoring of the evolutions of the commitment of ATIBT members in certified purchases.
In order to prepare this webinar, we invite the concerned members to (re)read the FAQ of the Themis portal. If you are concerned by Themis, you will soon receive a link to join the webinar on January 25.
