For this first consultation on the EUTR, which you will find here, the Directorate General for the Environment wants to ensure that the current texts of the EUTR are still relevant.
As a reminder, the EUTR, the European Union’s Timber Regulation, is the EU’s essential tool to combat the importation of illegal timber into Europe. ATIBT has taken stock on the EUTR actuality in April 2020 here.
A second consultation within the framework of the Deforestation Communication: in order to provide a regulatory framework to combat deforestation imported from the EU, DG ENV is launching an assessment of all the systems of existing regulatory and non-regulatory measures that could be set up in such a framework.
The ATIBT certification commission will look into this.
