FSC is hosting a webinar on Wednesday, September 20 to share progress on the implementation of Motion 23 "Use landscape-wide approaches adapted to local conditions and strengthen Standard Development Groups (SDGs) to improve the protection of Intact Forest Landscapes."
In August, the FSC Board validated the approach proposed by the FSC teams: a Pilot approach that enables SDGs to use new guidelines in real-life situations, i.e. for existing certificates and for new certifications, and to define IFL indicators that will subsequently be incorporated into the FSC normative framework. This enables companies already certified to implement the new requirements.
The guidelines that will be used by the SDGs to propose IFL indicators will soon be in the consultation phase. The finalization of the procedures is then scheduled for the end of 2024: they will be integrated into the Pilot and used in real-life situations, before being incorporated into the normative framework by 2025/2026.
