The London Hardwood club and the National Hardwood Division of TDUK invited ATIBT to its September 25th meeting

27.09.2024

The London Hardwood Club held its quarterly meeting at the Globe Restaurant in London on the 25th of September 2024, with the theme of the outlook for tropical timber in the UK market and a presentation of the ATIBT's activities.

ATIBT

ATIBT’s team comprising of Caroline Duhesme, Head of Strategy and Innovation, Franck Monthe, CITES Project lead, Paul Cuveillier, Technical Documentation lead and Nathalie Bouville, Communication Manager presented the association and its main activities to an audience of 40 and more timber professionals from the UK. Caroline gave an update on the EUDR while Franck shared some information on the CITES requirements. Paul presented all the technical resources available to ATIBT members while Nathalie’s presentation focused on the promotion aspects of ATIBT’s mission through in particular the Fair and Precious initiative.

Participants appreciated the presentations and were in particular keen to hear more about the EUDR wondering If the regulation would really be enforced in January 2025, which Caroline believes is unlikely (and as suggested in this article). Many of the questions raised concerned the collection of GPS coordinates, and information linked to due diligence. Caroline was able to reassure us that certified forest managers are well prepared in tropical areas.

This meeting was the occasion for ATIBT to reconnect with the UK market and to reconnect with its members such as Danzer, NGH, Tradelink, Gilmour&Aitken, Latham, etc.
