Regional workshop aimed at capacity-building for the implementation of Non-Detriment Finding Notices (NDFN) in Central Africa

As announced in our Newsletter of February 14, the workshop was held from March 17 to 20, 2025 in Douala, Cameroon and aims the exports for species listed in Appendix 2 of CITES.

Organized under the aegis of COMIFAC and its partners, ATIBT, FRMi and Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech University, the regional workshop for sharing capacity-building tools for the implementation of Non-Detriment Finding Notices (NDFs) in Central Africa was held at the Hotel Sawa, Douala, Cameroon.

Some fifty experts from the sub-region came together to analyze and discuss tools to help implement NDFs for CITES tree species in the sub-region.

The workshop addressed the following topics : 

- Harmonization of export quota assessment and monitoring methodologies

- Exchange of experiences between Central African countries.

- Identifying needs and formulating recommendations to improve the implementation of NDFs.

- Strengthening coordination between government authorities, researchers, technical partners and private sector players.

This workshop was supported by the PPECF program, the UNICONGO Forest Federation and the EU's ASP Cameroon project.
