21.03.2025

ATIBT publishes a new request for proposals for the continuation of the “Madera Cero Deforestacion” project.

The “Madera Cero Deforestación” project is an initiative financed by the European Commission as part of the AL-INVEST Verde program, which aims to promote sustainable growth and job creation in Latin America. The project aims to strengthen the traceability of tropical woods and promote sustainable forestry, in compliance with the European Union's Deforestation Regulation (RDUE).

The initiative is based on several objectives:

  • Create a digital traceability tool to track timber from origin to sale.
  • Promote innovation in the production practices of small and medium-sized businesses in the timber sector in Quintana Roo and Campeche, adapting them to regulatory requirements and the expectations of European and international markets.
  • Ensure the social, economic and sustainable development of forest communities in Campeche and Quintana Roo.

After this first year, the project is entering its second phase with the publication of a call for tenders with the following main objectives:

  • Organization of practical workshops to implement nearshoring processing models.
  • Development of marketing actions to put forest ejidos in touch with buyers on the European market.

Please note that the development of actions is exclusively in Spanish.
