ATIBT at FOMADECIE-BC: Strategic participation to promote environmental communication in the Congo Basin

11.04.2025

From April 22 to 25, 2025, ATIBT will be participating in the first Multi-Actor Forum on the Development of Environmental Communication and Information in the Congo Basin (FOMADECIE-BC) in Brazzaville.

Nathalie Bouville, Head of Communications, will take part as a panellist in the Round Table on “Environmental communication in the private sector”, and will present the latest news from ATIBT, including the organization of the Racewood show as part of the “Marche Intérieur du Bois” MIB Congo project.

A pioneering event for regional environmental communication

FOMADECIE-BC is a first in the sub-region, bringing together key players committed to preserving the ecosystems of the Congo Basin. The event, to be held at the Hôtel Grand Lancaster in Brazzaville, places communication at the heart of conservation strategies and the fight against climate change.

Under the theme “Communication as a strategic tool for achieving conservation objectives and combating climate change”, the forum will bring together ministries, international organizations, the private sector, NGOs and the media to reflect together on best practices in environmental communication.

ATIBT at the heart of debates on private sector communication

Our association will play a significant role in this event. On April 23, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Nathalie Bouville, ATIBT's Communications Manager, will take part as a panellist in Round Table 4 devoted to “Environmental communication in the private sector”.

This session, moderated by Gervais Itsoua Madzous (IPCC WG III Vice-President and Coordinator of the Regional Hub for Climate Action Transparency), will enable ATIBT to share its expertise and best practices alongside other key players such as SNPC (Eco-Zamba), the CIF Project (ADB), Télé Congo, FRM and X-OIL-Congo.

A stand to promote Fair&Precious and our communication initiatives

During the first three days of the forum (April 22-24), ATIBT will also have an exhibition stand to present its activities and communication tools. This will be an ideal opportunity to showcase our Fair&Precious collective brand and demonstrate how responsible marketing can contribute effectively to promoting the sustainable management of tropical forests.

A particular focus will be on promoting our next Conference “Racewood show”, organized as part of the MIB Congo project.

Visitors will be able to discover our communication materials, marketing campaigns and awareness-raising initiatives aimed at promoting certified wood products from the Congo Basin.

A strategic opportunity for networking and visibility

ATIBT's participation in this forum represents a major opportunity to strengthen our existing partnerships and develop new ones. With the presence of numerous regional institutions (COMIFAC, PFBC, CEEAC, CCBC), international organizations (UNDP, WWF, CIFOR-ICRAF), and high-level government representatives, this event will enable us to highlight the contribution of the private sector to environmental communication.

Our participation is fully in line with ATIBT's vision of promoting sustainable management of tropical forests through effective and targeted communication, thus contributing to regional efforts to preserve the planet's second green lung.
