The position of Congo Basin PAFC/PEFC coordinator has been filled. Lucas Millet will be responsible for promoting and expanding the sustainable forest management label in the sub-region.
Active in the sub-region for almost ten years, Lucas has contributed to the development of best practices in sustainable forest management, firstly as Certification Manager at Bois et Sciage de l'Ogooué (BSO), with whom he obtained PAFC certification in 2022, and then at Rougier Gabon as CSR and Certification Director. He also teaches Forest Certification and Corporate Social Responsibility in France at Sylvacampus and Grenoble Alpes University.
As PAFC Congo Basin coordinator, he will be responsible for promoting and training various stakeholders in PAFC standards, including auditors, companies, NGOs, consultancies and academics. He will also be responsible for managing the PAFC Congo Basin system, developing relations with governments, in particular the Ministries in charge of forests, as well as certification offices and companies, in order to develop the label in the sub-region and ensure its recognition as a benchmark for the forests of the Congo Basin. Lucas will also have the chance to drive and contribute to the necessary revisions of standards in the face of new international requirements, and to develop new tools to bring about more sustainable forest management in the Congo Basin. He will support the PAFC Gabon, PAFC Congo and PAFC Cameroon, while helping to develop the label in other countries in the sub-region and in West Africa.
Lucas holds a master's degree in international law, and is an expert in ecosystem management and teaching. He has also taken part in various projects in Guyana and Indonesia, and worked in Brussels for an international organization.
ATIBT wishes Lucas the best of luck in his new responsibilities.
