The STIHL company was founded in 1926 and is based in Waiblingen, near Stuttgart, Germany. Today, the group designs, manufactures and sells motorised equipment for forestry, agriculture and construction professionals, as well as for landscapers and the general public.
This equipment is accompanied by a line of products - VIKING - dedicated to gardens. Their products are marketed through a network of specialised distributors, including 37 distribution subsidiaries, nearly 120 importers and over 45,000 specialised retailers located in over 160 countries. With a workforce that includes 15,000 employees, STIHL reached worldwide turnover of €3.8 billion in 2017.
