In the context of the EU Global Gateway Initiative, a webinar will be organized on March 11th ahead of a gathering that will be held in Georgetown, Guyana from June 2th-4th, 2025.
The Investment Mission for Forestry and Value added products organized by the EU Commission and EU Delegation in Guyana will take place in Georgetown, Guyana from June 2th-4th, 2025.
Guyana is one of the fastest growing economy in the world reaching 44% growth in 2024. Guyana is a high forest, low deforestation (HFLD) country and a net carbon sink. The Forest Law Enforcement Governance and Trade Voluntary Partnership Agreement (FLEGT VPA) signed between Guyana and the EU in November 2022 ensures the legal trade of forest goods and is working towards full EUDR compliance.
Guyana has the potential to sustainably harvest 1.2 million m³ of timber per year, Guyana offers significant growth opportunities in the forestry sector.
Ahead of the June meeting an information webinar for the Foresty and Value added companies will be held on March 11, 2025, at 14:00 CET Time. There will be presentations by the Minister of Natural Resources, president of the Guyana Forest Commission and private sector leaders to present details on the opportunities for business and investment as well as the June investment mission.
