07.03.2025

We are  looking for an assistant technical assistant for its Domestic Timber Market (MIB) project in the Republic of the Congo. This project aims to strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of the domestic timber industry, while contributing to the sustainable socio-economic development of the country.

The artisanal timber sector represents a significant part of the Congolese economy, but remains largely informal and has no fiscal impact on the State. As part of its efforts to formalize this sector and promote the sustainable management of forest resources, ATIBT has been working since 2014 to support the government and private actors. The MIB project supports local wood processing, guaranteeing a supply of legal and sustainable wood, while creating decent jobs.

Location: Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo, with trips to several cities such as Pointe-Noire, Ouesso, Dolisie and Sibiti.
Contract duration: 36 months
Employing organization: ATIBT, representative office in Congo.

Tasks:
The AT2 will be in charge of several missions, under the supervision of the project manager and Technical Assistant 1 (AT1):

  • Support for the management of the project's technical activities, in particular the training of local actors in the timber sector (artisans, SMEs, transporters).
  • Contribution to the establishment and management of a wood laboratory-consultancy.
  • Organization of workshops, training courses and trade fairs.
  • Administrative follow-up, report management, documentation and budgetary aspects.
  • Impact assessment of activities and promotion of good practices.

Required profile:

  • Qualifications: Minimum 3 years of post-secondary education in a field related to forestry, the environment, economic development or project management.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in the sustainable management of natural resources or training of local stakeholders.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in project management tools, knowledge of the dynamics of the timber industry, and skills in group facilitation.
  • Soft skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, rigor, organization and autonomy.
  • Languages: Proficiency in French (written and spoken), English and a local language would be a plus.
