ATIBT has recently published its guide on the performance and functional requirements of African tropical wood structures, providing an opportunity to review the various ATIBT guides available on our website.
Performance & Functional Requirements Guide for African Tropical Wood Structures:
The latest publication from ATIBT, this document originates from a request by project owners, mainly architects, who wish to use tropical wood in public procurement due to its specific performance characteristics. However, they may face challenges in drafting the Special Technical Specifications. The guide covers trends in the production and markets of Central African tropical wood, as well as eco-certification and legality. It then details the performance and functional requirements of thirteen categories of tropical wood products.
Guide to Using Eco-Certified African Wood:
This guide is intended for users of African wood in Europe, as well as for all suppliers, distributors, designers, public specifiers, and educators whose activities are linked to the wood industry. Its objective is to provide, in the first part, technical information on various aspects of tropical wood as a material, highlighting the advantages it offers when used in construction. The second part presents a selection of structures where tropical wood has undeniably proven its effectiveness and offers a list of suitable wood species for their realization.
Guide to Local Use of Central African Wood :
This guide is an extension of the Guide to Using Eco-Certified African Wood. It is intended for professionals such as producers, carpenters, joiners, and cabinetmakers, as well as users of African wood in Central Africa, public specifiers, trainers, and educators involved in the wood industry. Unlike the first guide, it covers a much wider range of applications, considering the reduced cost due to lower transportation expenses, making it more accessible to new markets.
Technical Guide for the Commercialization of Tropical Veneers :
This document presents, in the simplest way possible, the quality and measurement criteria for tropical veneers—wood sheets less than 6 mm thick, obtained through peeling (full or semi-circular), slicing, or sawing operations.
