At the request of Brazil, the CITES Secretariat has just published an important notification concerning the implementation of the Convention for: cumaru (Dipteryx spp.) and Ipe (Handroanthus spp., Roseodendron spp., Tabebuia spp.).
From November 25, 2024, cumaru and green ebony will be listed in Appendix II of CITES, with strict regulations on wood products, with annotation #17 (covering logs, sawn timber, veneer sheets plywood and processed wood).
Brazil will issue pre-Convention certificates for wood harvested before this date and CITES export permits for wood harvested after.
We recommend all our members to be vigilant regarding the formalities to be respected for your future transactions.
