Over the last few months, Preferred by Nature has made major advances in its development, particularly in view of the forthcoming implementation of the EUDR.
Here are the latest big news:
Preferred by Nature is moving the LegalSourceTM certification to the Preferred by Nature Certification, which is aligned with the new EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). The EUDR will replace the EU Timber Regulation (EUTR) by the end of 2024 and will cover more products that are linked to deforestation. LegalSource-certified businesses will need to transition to the new certification by then.
A group of sustainability organisations, including FSC, Preferred by Nature, RSB, and SBP, have formed the Risk Information Alliance (RIA) to share risk data and assessments across commodities and sectors. The RIA aims to help businesses, certification schemes and producers comply with the EUDR and other ESG regulations and market demands. The RIA has received a grant from the ISEAL Innovations Fund and invites more stakeholders to join.
Preferred by Nature is hosting a free webinar on how the EUDR will impact US-based companies. The webinar will cover the EUDR requirements, ESG regulatory trends, traceability and transparency challenges, and steps to prepare for the EUDR. The webinar will take place on Thursday, 14 March, 1:00 - 2:30 pm EST and will have a Q&A session at the end.
